I'm trying to reserve judgment on the new direction for TOO, in part because I only caught the tail end of the previous administration and in part because all new systems take time to develop. I have seen some very promising output from the current system. The highlight would have to be the final, live Red-Blue event. But this update, March Day 2, exemplifies all of the most serious short comings of the new direction. The multi-sub, reality TV, competitive format produces an insipid, generic, almost robotic process. Why bother to even ask about strengths, weaknesses, and goals? The opening scene seemed promising, but once that ended in what came off as a predetermined and scripted selection, all tension and individual interest was left behind. How can DB/SM be so formulaic and, frankly, boring? Also, does someone at Kink own a lot of stock in Hitachi? Have they paid a mint for product placement? I have a number of months to go on my membership. One really poor update does not a trend make, but there haven't been many really good updates to even the ledger.
